چکیده
The use of low molecular weight organic acids (LMWOAs) for the phytoremediation heavy metals has become a promising technique. We chose five kinds (oxalic acid (OA), acetic (AA), tartaric (TA), malic (MA), and citric (CA)) with six application rates (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 mmol/kg) planted sunflowers (Helianthus annuus L.) in Cd-polluted soil to study efficiency Cd degree toxicity plants. Treatment no served as control (CK). analyzed plant height dry matter nonprotein sulfhydryl (NPT) contents tissues. OA, AA, TA, MA, CA increased heights by 17.6–47.40%, 21.25–39.17%, 12.5–35.52, 5.10–30.50%, 16.15–49.17%, respectively; shoot biomass was except MA. NPT decreased under LMWOA application, which, roots, increase root treatment; however, there obvious relationship stems leaves. composition changed significantly treatments compared CK, changes carbonate Fe-Mn oxide were most prominent. accumulation 43.31%, 55.25%, 48.69%, 0.52%, 32.94%, respectively, content quality promoted accumulation. LMWOAs more likely affect changing total P (TP) rather than N (TN).

Labile Cd complexes increase Cd availability to plants.
Dissolved trace metals are present in the environment as free ions and as complexes. Commonly used models to predict metal bioavailability consider the free ion as the major bioavailable species. However, increases in metal availability in the presence of metal complexes have repeatedly been found. We measured the uptake of cadmium (Cd) by spinach (Spinacia oleracea) from solution in absence or...
متن کاملPhotosynthetic, antioxidative, molecular and ultrastructural responses of young cacao plants to Cd toxicity in the soil.
Cadmium (Cd) is a highly toxic metal for plants, even at low concentrations in the soil. The annual production of world cocoa beans is approximately 4 million tons. Most of these fermented and dried beans are used in the manufacture of chocolate. Recent work has shown that the concentration of Cd in these beans has exceeded the critical level (0.6mgkg-1 DM). The objective of this study was to e...
متن کاملSALICYLIC ACID DECREASES Cd TOXICITY IN MAIZE PLANTS
The present study is focused on the possible mediatory role of salicylic acid (SA) in photosynthesis under cadmium (Cd) toxicity. Maize seeds were sterilized and divided into two groups. One half of the seeds was presoaked in 500 μM SA solution for 6 h and then both groups were allowed to germinate for 3 days. Plants were grown for 12 days in Hoagland solution at 22/18 oC under 16/8-h light/ da...
متن کاملGrowth responses of three ornamental plants to Cd and Cd-Pb stress and their metal accumulation characteristics.
Up to now, there was no document on ornamental plants that had been applied to phytoremediation, which can remedy contaminated environment and beautify it at the same time. Thus, the growth responses and possible phytoremediation ability of three ornamental plants selected from the previous preliminary experiments were further examined under single Cd or combined Cd-Pb stress. The results showe...
متن کاملPb and Cd accumulation in Avicennia marina from Qeshm Island,
The accumulation of heavy metals Pb and Cd in the mangrove, Avicennia marina, was studied on the southern coast of Iran, particularly on and near Qeshm Island in the Persian Gulf. The samples were collected from 7 stations which they were analyzed by flame Atomic absorption spectrophotometer after chemical digestion. Maximum Pb and Cd in leaves are (34.50, 3.52 ppm) and minimum of them are in ...
